Definitions (Pressure)
PRESSURE
Pressure: It is defined as the force acting normally per unit area.
Liquid Pressure: The pressure exerted by liquid on the
surface of container in which it is kept is called liquid pressure.
Atmospheric pressure: The pressure exerted at a sea level by a mercury column of height 760mm is called 1 standard atmospheric pressure.
Hydraulic garage lift: It is a machine used to lift light
vehicle in services stations during their services is called hydraulic garage
lift.
Hydraulic Brake: It is a braking system that is used in
heavy automobiles.
Up-thrust: When a body is partially or wholly immersed in a liquid, the
resultant force acted on it by the liquid is called up-thrust.
Density: The mass per unit volume of substance is known as density.
Relative density: It is
defined as the ratio of density of object to the density of pure water at 4 degree celsius.
Hydrometer: Hydrometer is the
device which is used to measure the specific gravity or relative density of
liquid.
Lactometer:
The
device which is used to measure the purity of milk is called lactometer.
