Definitions (Heat)
HEAT
Heat: Heat is a form of
energy that flows from a hot body to a cold body when they are placed in
thermal contact.
Heat
energy:
Heat energy of a body is defined as the sum of the kinetic energy of all the
particles present in the body.
Temperature: The degree of hotness
or coldness of body is called temperature.
Thermometer: The device used to
measure the temperature of the body is called thermometer.
Liquid
thermometer:
The thermometer, in which liquid is used as thermometric substance is called
liquid thermometer.
One kilo heat: It is defined as the heat which is
required to raise the temperature of 1kg pure water by 1
One calorie of heat: it is define as the amount of heat
required to raise the temperature of 1gm of pre water by 1
Linear expansion: The increase in the length of an object
due to heat is called linear expansion.
Anomalous expansion of water: The unusual expansion of water in the
temperature range between 0
Heat equation: heat lost or gain by an object is equal
to the product of mass, specific heat capacity, and change in temperature. This
is called heat equation.
Caloriemetry: it is defined as the measurement of heat
lost or gain by an object.
Thermal heat capacity: Heat capacity of a substance is defined
as the amount of heat energy required to increase the temperature of substance
by 1
Specific heat capacity: It is defined as the amount of heat
required to raise the temperature of 1 Kg mass of substance by 1 degree Celsius.
One joule: It is defined as the amount of heat energy required to raise
the temperature by 1
